The soundtrack to a dystopian world view.

Part band, part machine, the Chicago-based angry robot outfit Cyanotic, has been producing their own hybrid of angry robot music since forming in 2002. Striking balance between synthetic order and frenzied chaos, the band’s 2017 release “Tech Noir” serves as a welcome updating of their loving homage to electronic music culture and classic cyberpunk tropes.

Producer, songwriter, composer, KANGA wields the power of objectification in a hyper surreal world of techno-industrial landscapes and manipulative pop hooks. (Source: KANGA Bandcamp)

KANGA is a solo project of a Los Angeles based composer, artist, and music programmer who has worked on films that include Nightmare, The Devils Carnival II, Insidious III, and The Conjuring II. KANGA has been making a lot of waves in the couple of years, including a recommendation from Gary Numan as well as performances at Terminus Festival and Cold Waves! Here’s a video from her explosive show at The Red Sea back in January…

Front Line Assembly Tomorrow!

Don’t forget – Front Line Assembly play tomorrow night, Sunday (May 29), at Ground Zero. I’m actually writing this report from the road, as I’m in Milwaukee for tonight’s Front Line Assembly date. I leave for the Miramar Theater in a few short hours for the VIP meet and greet and I’ll try and post a quick note to Facebook and Twitter when I get back with a preview of what’s in store for everyone on Sunday. This is a fantastic lineup from top to bottom with lots of noisy, heavy industrial goodness. If you want to save a few bucks and get through the line quicker, head over to Brown Paper Tickets to purchase your tickets ahead. Will call, print at home and mobile phone tickets are still available.

Make sure you get there early for DJ? Acucrack and Cyanotic! Here’s some really great footage of Cyanotic live in Pittsburgh last year.

Front Line Assembly, Goth Prom, Beer, Brats and Synthpop

Memorial Day weekend brings us one of the biggest shows of the year on May 29 – Front Line Assembly. They’ll be joined by Dismantled, Cyanotic and DJ? Acucrack. It’s been 4 years since Front Line Assembly last travelled to the Twin Cities and we’re extremely excited to have them back. Dismantled have stepped in for Die Krupps, who unfortunately ran into visa troubles. Check out this live video to see what’s in store from Dismantled:

And here’s a great video of FLA live in 2007:

For more videos, there’s a playlist featuring upcoming Kilted Farmer shows over at YouTube.

June 7, we have the pleasure of welcoming back Freezepop and The Echoing Green along with locals The Trapezoids and Ficshe. The Echoing Green’s new album, In Scarlet and Vile, has been making waves in the dark music scene and the band was Dark Horizons Radio’s featured artist for the month of April.

Kilted Farmer is also putting on the Milwaukee Freezepop / The Echoing Green show on June 8 at The Miramar Theater, one of Milwaukee’s premier music venues with an in the round setup and excellent sound. Milwaukee natives Somegirl, who you may remember as openers for the Legends of Synthpop date, and Bradley are supporting Freezepop and The Echoing Green in Milwaukee. So if you like beer, brats and synthpop, definitely head east on I-94 for a second night in a row of great live music.

And don’t forget! Goth Prom, the biggest dark/goth/industrial night of the year is coming up on Monday, May 23 at The Saloon. The Kilted Farmer team will be represented well and we hope to see you there!
